We use it to create and manage orders, verify payment, reserve and update stock, arrange delivery, send order and tracking messages, handle support and returns, prevent fraud, keep required records and improve the store. Marketing messages are sent only where you have asked to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

4. Service providers

We share only what is needed with providers that help us operate:

• Yoco for secure checkout and payment confirmation;
• Netlify for website hosting, forms, customer identity and protected store records;
• Resend for transactional email;
• Aramex for delivery and tracking; and
• GoatCounter for privacy-friendly, aggregated website analytics.

We may also disclose information to professional advisers or public authorities when the law requires it. Some providers may process information outside South Africa; where that happens, we expect appropriate contractual and security safeguards.

5. Payments

Card payment takes place on Yoco’s secure checkout. The Bear Cave does not see or store your complete card number or security code. We receive payment status, a transaction reference and the information needed to match payment to your order.

6. Storage and retention

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for your order, customer support, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, dispute and legal obligations. When it is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.

7. Cookies and local storage

The site uses essential browser storage to remember your cart, product choices, account state and promotional preferences. We also use aggregated analytics to understand whether the store works well. Blocking essential storage may stop parts of checkout from working correctly.

8. Your choices and rights

You may ask to access or correct your personal information, object to certain uses, withdraw marketing consent or ask us to delete information where the law allows. Email your request to support. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

9. Security and children

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards and restrict access to order information. No internet system is risk-free, so please use a strong, unique password and contact us if you suspect unauthorised account activity. The store is not directed at children under 18; a parent or guardian should place an order for a minor.
